I am a huge TV fanatic and I watch a few shows that are based in the Atlanta area. For instance, Real Housewives of Atlanta is one of the main shows I have placed at the top of my list. I am also a fan of Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta. While I know that these shows do not let people know every detail about what it is like to live in the city, I am definitely intrigued at the idea of living there.
The town I live in right now is pretty nice, but it is not as diverse as I would like it to be. I am one of the only African-American people on my street and it has gotten pretty tiresome over the years. I am not prejudice and I have nothing against people of other cultures, but it would be nice for me to live someplace where there are more people like me.
In addition to my cultural background, I also live an alternative lifestyle. The people in my neighborhood are quite conservative, so that is not something I can express as much as I would like. This does not mean that I want to walk around with a huge banner on my forehead that lets everyone know that I prefer to date other guys, but I do not want to feel like I am being given the death stare if I decide to walk down the street holding hands with my partner.
I have decided to take a trip to Atlanta in the next few months in order to get a better idea of what the city is like. I will hang out in a few of the neighborhoods, enjoy some of the nightlife, eat some of the food and see if this is a place where I would like to put down some roots. It is a pretty frightening thought since I do not know anyone who lives in the area, well except for a few people I have become acquainted with while using social media sites.
If I am impressed with what i see, I will start saving up for a move. My boyfriend is on board, so that is not something I will need to worry about, which is great. I think we will be able to relocate next year if we cut corners and save a little more than usual.
